This American Snow Man

Posted by: Michael Wilson - 01/20/10

Atlas Print has printed yet another new shirt design for This American Life, a radio show on NPR from Chicago Public Radio, hosted by the beloved Ira Glass and produced by Seth Lind. This American Life is our favorite radio program here at Atlas Print, we often listen to their podcasts as we work. They also have a television program on Showtime that is equally as amazing and entertaining. We love their creative programs and we are absolutely thrilled to continue screen printing their tee shirt designs.

The Snowman shirt design was one of the winning entries created by Jon Shkiele in a shirt design contest held a while back. They are available in the store now so be sure to pick one up.

Printed on American Apparel shirts.
This shirt was printed as 5 colors.
We printed a Water Base Discharge Under-base print in white, with additional colors printed with our new Claira environmental non phthalate inks.

Award Winning Screen Printing

Posted by: Michael Wilson - 01/19/10

Atlas Print took second place in the Impressions Awards for 2009. This is the industry’s most prestigious apparel decorating contest. Impressions Magazine is the leading industry publication and they host one of the largest national trade shows, the Imprinted Sportswear Shows (ISS). The ISS shows are held throughout the year across the United States. The 31st annual contest was judged at the Fort Worth Imprinted Sportswear Show, which was held Sept. 25-27. Award winners are showcased in the January 2010 Impressions Magazine and displayed at the 2010 ISS trade shows.

We received the second place award in the category, “Eco-Friendlier Screen Printing”.
We screen printed a single shirt using the Harvest of Hope design created by Horse Bites Design. We previously printed this design on Black shirts for the 2009 Harvest of Hope Music Festival put on by No Idea Records to benefit the Harvest of Hope Foundation. It’s a rad design and we feel it was an excellent choice to help support the cause.

We printed this design on an American Apparel organic cotton fashion fit tee shirt.
The design was printed as three colors with Eco-Friendly Water Base Ink.
No wood screens were hurt in the making of this shirt, only re-usable metal roller frames which we reclaim with water and soy chemistry.

All you need is love.

We are very exited to work with the kind people that are The Bearon, an Ann Arbor-based company. They were featured in Inc. magazine’s list of America’s Coolest College Start-Ups. We printed a shirt design for them with custom tags which was previously featured in Inc Mag. The article is about Generation Y companies starting business on collage campuses before even graduating college. Click here to see the full article.

Webs and Threads

We recently screen printed a bunch of cool Tee Shirt designs for the web site startup company Xomba.com to promote their site. Their web site allows users to contribute articles and content to the site and then shares its revenue with its users.

Custom Relabel

Posted by: Michael Wilson - 01/13/10

We are now offering a Custom Relabel Service to our clients. We remove the manufactures tag from the collar seam and re-stitch with a new tag or screen print your tag on the inside of the shirt. This is a great way to brand your product with a professional retail ready look.

Discharge Wool Lined Zip Hoody

Posted by: Michael Wilson - 01/12/10

Every now and again we receive a last minute rush order to print on a very difficult item with the shortest of deadlines. This Job was no exception. This was a straight Discharge print that we printed on the front and the back of a Sherpa lined Zip Hooded Sweatshirt Jacket from Independent Trading Company. We printed these for the Christan Surfers. Surf over to their site and check them out.

Good vibrations

Down here in good old St. Augustine a lot of good is happening by a lot of good people. This past week Atlas Print teamed up with Bakery Outlet Records and the HAWKE Foundation for a collaborative koozie. A show was put on in honor of our good friend Rich’s wedding in which proceeds went to the HAWKE foundation. Atlas Print produced 100 koozies with puff additive ink for the door entry and the response was great. Over all it was a great effort to be a part of and a fun show.

Think green.

Atlas Print recently had the chance to be featured in an article with Impression Magazines for their eco-conscious online magazine, Eco-Impressions. They featured Atlas Print in a piece about being young printers in this up and coming green market place. We were very happy with how it all turned out and are very pleased to be a part of their magazine. Be sure to check out the article and get a feel for what we are all about.

Discharge Dye Screen Printing over the Seam

Posted by: Steven Bloom - 06/25/09

We recently hooked up with Longwood Skateboards to do a run of shirts with discharge screen printing over the side seam. Here’s a little peek into the process from start to finish.

Mixing the color pigments directly into the discharge.

The screen on the press. Love the logo, true homage to skateboarding.

This is what the discharge looks like until you cure the ink and bring out the true color.

The end result, a nice vibrant print.

It’s always great to work with legit people doing what they love, be sure to check out and support Longwood Skateboards

Harvest Of Hope Fest

We recently printed T-Shirts for the Harvest of Hope Music Fest put on by No Idea Records. The proceeds go towards the Harvest of Hope Foundation to benefit Migrant Farm workers. Visit Harvestofhopefest.com for more info.

Here are some photos taken with a broken camera at the Harvest of Hope Fest March 6th-8th 2009. We set up a tent and called it home for a long weekend of never ending music and funnel cakes.
